Nike SB secure their first Dunk collaboration of 2023 with Pawnshop Skate Co., the Southern Californian skate shop servicing the needs of Covinas locals since 2010. Pawnshop is owned and run by Anthony Piscopo, father of Donovon, and got its name after he pawned a treasured family heirloom in order to get his son his first skateboard. That one seemingly small gesture proved itself a catalyst for Donovons success, breaking onto the scene in 2009 with a shared part in Zeros Strange World video alongside all-time greats Jamie Thomas and Elissa Steamer, enjoying a short stint as part of Alien Workshops golden generation and featuring in Nike SBs Chronicles Vol. 2, and finally finding a permanent home at Hockey as one of the foundational flag posts for the brand.
Donovon is an integral part of Pawnshops prosperity and an omnipresent ambassador for Covinas growing skate scene, and his deep entrenchment with Nike SB over the years has borne fruit in the form of a collaborative Dunk High with his fathers store. One of the citys slogans is Where Friendship is Traditional, so a link up between Pawnshop and Nike SB, who are so dedicated to rewarding those who contribute the most to their communities, was only natural.
